The Manual pH Test Kit by Growth Technology:

The manual pH test kit is a perfect way to test your pH if your on a budget. They come with a test tube that is filled with your nutrient mix and solution drops that are dropped into your test tube. This in turn will change colour to indicate what pH your nutrient mix is at.

PH up or down can then be used to get to your desired pH.
The pH scale for this manual test kit is 4.0 – 11.0

The Growth Technology pH Liquid Test Kit comes with a test vial, test liquid and colour chart so growers can easily check, and adjust the pH levels of their nutrient solution.

Just add some drops of test liquid to a sample of the nutrient solution, shake and compare the colour to the chart.

Supplied in 20ml bottles that will last for up to 400 test, giving growers peace of mind that the pH level of their nutrient solution is at its optimum for strong vegetative growth and bloom.

Why do you need to test your pH level?

Acidity or alkalinity in a plant’s soil is measured by pH. The pH scale goes from 1 to 14 — a pH of 1 is highly acidic and a pH of 14 is highly alkaline.

The soil’s pH varies depending on geographical location. Many plants, including common garden and houseplants, prefer a neutral pH level of around 7.

When a plant’s soil pH increases, which is what would happen when its food’s pH is too high, the plant’s ability to absorb certain nutrients is disrupted.

As a result, some nutrients cannot be absorbed properly. For example, if a plant’s leaves become yellow between the veins, this indicates an iron deficiency.

Low iron in the soil is not the culprit. The soil’s high pH prevents the iron present in the soil from changing into a form the plant can absorb.

You can use this method if you are running short of cash to buy a pH Pal Plus pH Pen or a BlueLab pH Pen, but we recommend that you do buy one eventually, it is so important that your nutrient mix is at the right pH level.
